Take this Chick to the Easter Parade!

While we were reinventing the wheel we also decided to turn our Rubber Ducks into Easter Chicks!  We started with the body of the Rubber Duck. We make the duck body by frosting a cupcake and then attaching a donut hole and half of a marshmallow cut on the diagonal. Place the two parts opposite each other on the cupcake. Place the cupcake in the freezer until firm, about 15 minutes. Then we filled the gaps around the donut hole with yellow frosting to smooth the shape. Next we decided to use one of the Coating Variations on Page 14 of our new book what's New, Cupcake? to create the chicks. First we tinted coconut yellow using a zip lock bag (page 16 of the book). Next we the frosted the entire cupcake including the donut hole and marshamallow with yellow frosting. Finally we coated them with the tinted coconut. For the finishing details we added orange M&M Minis for the beaks and head feathers and used mini chocolate morsels for the eyes.

These little guys would look adorable in any Easter basket tomorrow morning and they are so easy to make.

Have a very Happy Easter from Karen and Alan
