What's New, Cupcake? Ducks turn into Easter Chicks!
This little chick looks like a relative of the duckling family on the
cover of our new book, What's New, Cupcake? And it should because this
fantastic Easter cupcake is made using a donut hole for the head, the
same technique we used to create the little flotilla of ducks for our
cover.

Separated at Birth?

To make the chick Karen tinted the frosting yellow using McCormick
food coloring. Then she used a technique from What's New, Cupcake? to
tint the coconut. She placed the coconut in a ziplock bag and added
drops of McCormick yellow food coloring to the bag. With a few shakes
of the bag all of the coconut is evenly tinted a bright yellow color.

I saw you one QVC promoting the new book which has been ordered! About the Egg Cupcake...with the chocolate egg shell using a plastic Easter egg as a mold. Would you please tell me after painting the chocolate in the egg ~ freezing til solid ~ how do you get the chocolate to release without the chocolate shattering? It is a completely adorable cupcake but I'm at my wits end ( not many wits left in this old ladies brain :0) I just can't figure this one out and I'm hoping you will be kind enough to answer my dilemma.
Kind Regards

We oiled the inside and then gave them a nice thick coating of the candy melts. If you coat them too thin they might shatter. After letting them harden we find they pop out very nicely. If any do shatter they can be remelted and used to coat the inside of another egg.
All the best,
Alan
PS I hear books are shipping early so hopefully you'll get yours long before Easter!

After watching your appearance on QVC, I was intrigued by the egg cupcakes. I've ordered the new book, but alas it won't arrive until after Easter...I would really like to know after you paint the inside of store bought plastic eggs how in the world do you get the chocolate to release from the egg without shattering? I've tried the freezer ~ I've tried spraying the inside with oil...nothing I do seems to work. Would you please share the secret?
Thanks bunches!
