We wish you Very Merry Cupcakes!

When you were talking about not being able to find the white and chocolate circus peanuts...I just used thin white and dark chocolate coating candy to pour over the orange circus peanuts. It works really well and you can put your eyes on before it dries!
Thanx for the great book and website, I got your book for Christmas toady!!

Does anyone have a unique idea for a fall cupcake. One of my daughters classmates is unable to attend birthday celebrations due to religious beliefs, so instead we have planned a "fall celebration" I want to make this the best party ever, as this little girl has always been excluded in the past. I am making caramel apples, maple leaf sugar cookies and apricot thumbprint cookies. But would love a great cupcake to add to the menu.

Hi Tanya,
How nice of you to make sure everyone is included in the fun. We think the Owls on page 172 of Hello, Cupcake! are a hoot and they always get a big response when we make them. We have seen lots of versions on line and at our Flickr page made by our readers so we know folks are finding this design very doable for parties and events. It uses Oreos both regular size and minis for the eyes and ears with junior Mints or M&Ms for the pupils, and banana runts for the beaks. They are easy to assemble and transport well.
Otherwise the fall leaves on page 180 are a stunner. For kids I would punch up the colors and use reds, yellows, and oranges mixed in with the brown chocolate leaves. This is an easy technique for making the leaves from melted chocolate wafers available in groceries and also craft stores, and they can be done ahead of time. Just make them in advance and when you are ready to assemble, frost the cupcakes and add the leaves. Very pretty for any party.
That is a very lucky little girl to have friends like you. We hope you have a splendid event.
Happy cupcaking!
Alan and Karen
