We have been looking too. We hate it when candy comes and goes. There are always things to use though. Fruit roll up comes in green. There are Apple Green Twizzlers. And green fruit chews like Starburst and Laffy Taffy could be shaped for the vines. When all else fails use frosting. Green frosting piped from a zip lock bag would make terrific vines for the pumpkin patch.

My Dad's 80th birthday arrives in November---I bought your cupcake book as soon as I saw it. My brother's wife Anna and I are planning on making Dad 80 pumpkin cupcakes (shown in the book). The yet to be designed stand to hold all 80 cupcakes is planned to resemble a giant pumkin as a centerpiece for party. Will keep you updated with our fun along the way.

I need your help in finding white circus peanuts looked online and no luck.

    Thanks,
    Emily

    Hi Emily,

We have heard this from several readers. They used to be distributed in small bags but recently became available only in bulk from the distributer. We recommend that you use the orange circus peanuts and coat them in white chocolate using the technique from the Hello, Cupcake! book. The peanuts end up slightly thicker but the color is right and they taste great.

I love, love, love the book, and am making the turkeys for placecards for Thanksgiving. But HELP-- how do I make caramel frosting? I can't find it in the supermarket, and can't find a recipe for it!

    Hi Leah,

We found caramel frosting in our grocery store. We know that these products do not get the same distribution around the country. It can be very frustrating. But it can also be a great chance to improvise. I wouldn't sweat the caramel frosting, and just use a vanilla frosting with a little food color to make the caramel color. Once you get the candy corn tails and name tags in place the flavor adjustment will be history.
