Cupcaking With Martha Stewart

We had a BLAST on the Martha Stewart Show! Martha was so welcoming and her show is an amazing production. Besides the Hair and Make Up; the Wardrobe; the Preparation of the Cupcakes; the rehearsals with the producers, the director, the publicist; the five or six cameras following her all around the kitchen; on top of all that Karen had to be cool, calm, collected, smart and charming! And guess what? She WAS!!!!!

Martha Stewart entered the studio carrying a tray of TV Dinner cupcakes. I nearly plotzed when I saw her carrying our cupcakes out on the stage. Martha joked about them being her new diet and showed them to the audience of 200 admiring guests for several minutes and then handed them over to her staff where they were devoured in a couple of quick bites. Guess they liked them.

I was in awe of my partner Karen as she guided Martha through a fun selection of our April Fool Cupcakes; Corn on the Cob, TV Dinners, Bagel and Lox, Popcorn and more. The segment lasted about 8 minutes but we felt like we were floating on air for hours. As Karen showed Martha how to use candy right out of the bag to decorate the cupcakes, Karen joked with Martha that they probably shopped in different aisles at the grocery store, and Martha threw it right back at her when she responded "I think you are right!" We had so much fun, Martha and her staff couldn't have been nicer, and everyone seemed to love our cupcakes, especially when they heard they were all going home with a copy of Hello, Cupcake!: Irresistibly Playful Creations Anyone Can Make. I was really happy to hear all the oohs and aahs as Karen showed them our cupcakes. We are just thrilled. Here are some behind the scene photos and a link to Martha's web site so you can see the segment yourself. Or set your TIVOs to the April 1, 2008 episode and watch the whole show. Martha has the recipes on her web site too, so go take a look and start making some cupcake fun.

All the best,
Alan and Karen

Look for the Decorating Cupcakes segment in the videos, it is segment 5 out of 8.

They turned the kitchen into a fish tank for April Fool's Day. That's Karen in the purple swim wear frosting some cupcakes!

Karen explains the finer points of TV Dinner cupcakes and Popcorn cupcakes to the staff!

TV Dinner cupcakes on the set and ready for the show.

Martha likes to hang her laundry out to dry between segments.
APRIL FOOLS, the set was dressed with a lot of fun pranks in honor of the holiday.

This is how a rehearsal looks, for the actual taping there were 200 guests in the audience and so many cameras we could hardly see Martha and Karen on the set. What a production!

Sounds like you had fun! I missed the episode and will click through to see if I can see it on your link. I created a page about Martha's new cookbook, Cupcakes. I'm going to guess you've seen it (the cookbook)...what did you think? I'd be thrilled if you'd drop by my page and let us all know!

Thanks. We were blown away by the variety and as always the creativity of Martha and her staff in her new cupcake book. Photography is as usual stunning and recipes sound delicious. Can't wait to start making them.
