Make a Monkey Cupcake!
Jennifer e-mailed us asking for a design for a monkey cupcake. Seems she has a little monkey in her family that she wants to surprise with cupcakes!
Our Big-Top project in our book Hello, Cupcake! has a whole circus full of ideas, including this adorable little monkey face.
How about starting with a banana cupcake! Frost the cupcake with chocolate icing. Trim a graham cracker to make the shape for the mouth area, then frost it pink. Add white frosting for the whites of the eyes and give each a brown mini M&M center with a chocolate jimmie for the eyebrows. Add more chocolate jimmies for the hair, chocolate O-shaped cereal for the ears, pink candy coated sunflower seeds for the nose, and red licorice lace for the mouth. A dot of white frosting on the eyes gives them a sparkle. We always make one cupcake all the way through, making any changes to get the look we want. Then we make an assembly line of all the parts and decorate the rest of the cupcakes.
Good luck! Please send an image if you can and let us
know how they turned out.
Happy decorating, Karen and Alan

Hi Jennifer,
Karen called me and asked if I could locate a monkey photo for you. I am going to try to post it to our BLOG for you later today. Just go to our website and then link to our blog or go to blog.hellocupcakebook.com to check. If I can find a close up of the monkey I will post it there.
All the best and keep on cupcaking,
Alan

Thanks for the ideas, they do help. I was thinking of using the monkey face
on his Robeez as a guide.
I'm curious, if I were to pre-order the book and send you the receipt, could
you send me a photo of your big top project?
Thanks again,
Jennifer
